Who we are and why the desk exists

Goldreward.io was set up in 2024 by a small group of editors who were tired of casino "reviews" written by people who had never opened an account. On the sites that dominate the first page of Google, order of merit tends to follow order of commission, and readers pay the price when the payout does not arrive. Our answer was simple. If nobody on the desk has staked their own money with an operator and pulled it back out again, that operator does not appear on a Goldreward list.

The bar for inclusion is deliberately unglamorous. A reviewer signs up under their own name, deposits with a personal payment method, plays for a meaningful session at sensible stakes, puts three scripted questions to support, and files a real withdrawal that we time from the click to the moment the money lands. Anything less is repackaged marketing, not journalism. We only cover operators properly licensed to serve players in the 10 markets we track, and where a country runs a national self-exclusion register or an affordability framework, we refuse to steer readers toward grey market workarounds.

The six checks every casino faces

Every casino that hopes to join a Goldreward.io list runs the same gauntlet of six checks. The framework is held steady across all 10 markets by design, so a four star rating in the United Kingdom means the same thing as a four star rating in Sweden or the Netherlands. Regional specifics shift, which regulator issues the licence, which cashier options are common, how bonuses are framed. The six checks do not.

Check How we test it Why it counts
1. Licence Confirmed straight from the regulator's live public register (UKGC, MGA, Spelinspektionen, KSA, Spillemyndigheden, ANJ, ACMA), never from a footer badge. Decides who is genuinely obliged to intervene when a dispute turns sour.
2. Real deposit A reviewer funds a live account from their own money, choosing a payment method a first-timer in that market would plausibly use. Reveals how far the actual experience drifts from what the marketing page claims.
3. Game library At least five hours across three slot volatility tiers, a live-dealer round and one or more RNG table games, rated on depth and the range of studios. Choice and consistency are what make a casino worth coming back to, session after session.
4. Bonus terms Wagering multiplier, max bet, game weighting, winning caps and expiry windows all read line by line before any offer is accepted. Separates offers genuinely worth taking from balance traps built to lock up your funds.
5. Cash-out timing A genuine withdrawal is timed from the moment the request is submitted to the moment the funds arrive in the receiving account. Tells you exactly when a win becomes money you can actually spend.
6. Support test Live chat and email each handle a basic sign-up question, a tricky bonus query and a purposely awkward dispute scenario. Indicates the kind of help you can count on the day something genuinely goes wrong.

Every check is filed as a pass, a partial or a fail. Partials feed straight into the final score and are called out in the body of the review, so readers can see exactly where an operator wobbled. A straight fail on the licence check or the cash out check is enough on its own to keep a brand off the list, no matter how well it performed everywhere else.

Why a score can move from one review cycle to the next

A Goldreward.io score is a snapshot in time, not a permanent verdict. Bonus terms get rewritten, cashier menus gain and lose options, KYC rules tighten, brands change owners and support teams turn over. The moment our monitoring picks up a real change, a payout that suddenly takes twice as long, a wagering multiplier that jumps overnight, a licence that switches status, the score moves with it and the page is stamped with the retest date. A four star operator can slip to three, or vanish from the list entirely, inside a single review cycle. That is by design.

How goldreward.io keeps the lights on

To be blunt: affiliate commissions pay for the desk. When a reader clicks through to a casino from one of our outbound links and opens an account, the operator may send us a referral fee. It costs the reader nothing on top of what they would have paid anyway. That revenue is what keeps every page on goldreward.io free to read, with no paywall, no email gate and no premium tier waiting behind a login.

The one thing money will never buy on this site is a spot on a list. Whatever commercial rate we agree with an operator is fixed the same whether we place them first, tenth or leave them out completely. It is signed once and never moves with the ranking. A meaningful share of the 90+ operators we cover pay us nothing at all, either because they run an in house programme we have not joined, or because we have chosen to stay off the network that manages them. They still sit where the test data placed them.

We flag the affiliate arrangement at the top of every page that carries outbound links, and the full breakdown lives on our affiliate disclosure page.

Emma Richardson
Senior Editor

Emma Richardson

Head of the review desk

Emma has close to a decade in iGaming, starting out as a payments analyst at a Malta-based operator, working through operations and compliance, and spending the past four years as an independent editor. Nothing on Goldreward.io, no payout test and no score, goes live until it has been signed off at her desk.

Conor Hayes

Nordics & Europe

Conor covers the Nordic and wider European markets and leads our bonus-terms audits, reading the fine print line by line before any offer is written up. He funds his own deposits, times every withdrawal and signs his name to each review he publishes.

The desk is led by Emma Richardson, Senior Editor, who brings nearly a decade of iGaming experience to the role. She started as a payments analyst at a Malta based operator, moved through operations and compliance, and has spent the last four years reporting on the industry as an independent editor. Every payout test and every score on the site crosses her desk before it goes live.

Working alongside Emma, casino reviewer Conor Hayes owns the Nordics and the rest of continental Europe and leads the bonus terms audits, while Emma herself handles the English speaking sites across the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. Together they run the deposits, log the sessions and time the withdrawals, and each is credited on the reviews they produce. Nothing on Goldreward.io is published anonymously, we do not accept sponsored posts, and no AI writes our verdicts. If there is a byline on a page, a real person wrote it, funded the deposit and clocked the cash out.
